  • Starting to love tempo runs...what has gotten into me?!? Couldn't get my workout plan to load into my watch and I had to guess a bit on the tempo/gmp miles. They all ended up being about 15 sec too fast. Good run though. Spring sunshine is hanging around and I'm feeling all the warm fuzzy feels 😎 · And, you know, I wear pepper spray & bring a scary looking dog w/me in the hopes that people won't bother me while I run. Still got stopped today by some guy in a truck...he asked me TWICE which house I live in. Dude, can I just finish my run?? · 6 mi total (1 mi w/u, 4 mi at GMP, 1 mi c/d). • 45 mins of strength training this morning + 4 miles after work done! 👊🏼✔️ . When my alarm went off at 5:45 this morning I almost said screw 🙅🏼‍♀️ it to strength training because I wanted to sleep. But I decided against that because I remember back to my very first half marathon when I was severely undertrained & how bad that half hurt. I refuse to repeat that. . For this marathon, I know I must build a strong body 🏋🏼‍♀️ & that means strength training. . The hustle isn’t just working on the things you like. It means doing the things you may not enjoy [ aka weights ] so you can do the things you love [ aka running ]. ♥️ I know a lot of runners can relate!

  • 31 days. That’s a really long time to go without doing what you love. It’s like 31 days without hugging my daughters or 31 days without telling my dogs they’re good girls. It’s also a really long time to be sick especially when you’re normally NEVER SICK. But shit happens. Despite the still broken rib (from coughing), I felt too good to not run today. So I laced up for one easy mile and let my legs remember how to goooooooo. Felt as amazing as you’d expect the first run after 31 days to feel. . . #healthylivingadventure

  • High fives all around! Finished up my work day and squeezed in a 2 mile stroller run before dinner time. I may still be a newbie runner, I may not be the fastest, and I may not be running as far as others. But let me tell you, I'm 100% at peace with that. 🌵 🌵 Sure, most runners may be training for some epic races and are running a gazillion miles a week. But I try not to compare my journey to other people's journeys. For me, it's all about where I started and how far I've come. (A year ago, in March, I ran only 5.2 miles. The entire month!) Over the last year(ish) I've made some major strides (pun intended). So while I may not have run in school and don't have years of running experience under my belt, I do have some Personal Best times that I'm damn proud of. 🌵 🌵 Anyway, I share all of that to say that if you're feeling like you may not be where you want to be, whether it's running or any other aspect of your life, hang in there. Your hard work will pay off. And be proud of your journey and how far you've come!! 🙌🏽

  • Yesterday, I went out hard. Today, I took it easy. . I normally wouldn’t be excited to share a pace like this. It’s certainly not my best. In fact, it’s about a minute slower per mile than last night. But both runs felt enjoyable - in completely different ways. I’m now embracing these slower runs!

How do I fit a bedroom that dubs as a closet into a suitcase?? . 18 dresses. 5 pairs of jeans. 5 shorts. 20 shirts. 8 bathing suits. and DON'T even get my started on the yoga pant situation #bringingall40 okay i guess you all were right, maybe this is getting a little out of hand. i may stress about packing but at least i don't have to stress about my coaching business. having the ability to take my business with me and work from ANYWHERE makes fitness coaching pretttty darn manageable. 📲🌴i fit it around my schedule and i decide how much time i devote each day. can you say the same about your passion + business?? . . . . . #overpackersanonymous #readytocruise #travelgirl #ineeditall

  • For a while now I've been exploring new places to run. Today I ran down this road I don't think I've ever been on and I quickly came upon a few farms. Within a half a mile it changed from a busy shopping area with housing developments all around to farm land. Sadly farm land like this is being sold more and more to developers who mostly put more homes in but also businesses. This rooster statue or whatever it is made me smile though. I'm also loving all of the trees in bloom! It's Spring!

  • As a runner, how your legs interact with the ground is important for 3 reasons: (1) to optimize the propulsive forces that enable faster running, (2) to optimize economy, and (3) to reduce the risk of injury. Here's some key things to practice: . ⭐ Run with hips directly above and aligned with your leg as your foot touches the ground. . ⭐ After your leg swings through to the font of your body after pushing off the ground, “sweep” your leg under you before your foot lands on the ground (see picture). The propulsive force depends on the square of the speed of the “sweeping” action immediately prior to your leg landing on the ground. Thus, small changes in the speed of your leg result in large changes in propulsive force (e.g., doubling the speed quadruples the propulsive force). . ⭐Place your foot on ground as close to directly underneath your hips as possible. . ⭐Keep vertical oscillation of your hips to a minimum. Don’t bounce when you run. . ⭐Think of your legs like stiff springs, and reduce the time your foot is in contact with the ground. Produce force quickly to push off. Think, “Foot down, foot up.” . • I love the LA Marathon!! And I'm super bummed I can't run it this wknd (I'm in the process of freezing my eggs & on doctor's orders not to). 👟👟 But I've run LA 5 times and have a ton of tips if you're running ! 🙌🏼 ➡️ NEW post on RunEatRepeat.com now with links to my recaps and other tips & fun from past races! [link in bio] Pls tag your running buddies to share! 🏅 🏅 🏅 🏅 🏅 5 Last Minute Tips for the LA Marathon: 🔹️ 1. PLAN your Fuel & Gear for Race Day. Check the weather report & your packing list. Race day weather is in the low 60s - which I love! But if you trained in the snow that might feel HOT. ☀️ Plan your gear and fuel according to your body's needs and race day conditions. 🔹️ 2. Race morning logistics: The LA Marathon is a point to point course = it starts at Dodger Stadium and ends 26.2 miles away near the Santa Monica Pier. So most runners need to park near the beach and take a shuttle to the starting line. It's a very early start and the streets will be jammed. PLAN how you'll get to the starting line, what time you need to leave your home/hotel, driving, parking and walking time. 🔹️ 3. Study the Course! I love the LA Marathon course! You'll run by tons of iconic landmarks! And normally these streets are JAMMED so enjoy this rare opportunity! 🌴 *Tip: Photo-ops include the Hollywood sign, Disney Concert Hall, Grauman’s Chinese Theater, Rodeo Drive, Santa Monica Pier and more!! 🥤🍌🥤 *Tip: Note where the aid stations are so you can fuel appropriately. If you have a sensitive stomach bring your own solid fuel (gus, energy bars, etc) and drink water on the course. 🔹️ 4. Spectators rock!! Have your spectators sign up for runner tracking so they know where you are on the course. Since it’s point to point it’s hard to see someone run by more than once. Runner tracking helps know where your person is out there. 🔹️ 5. HAVE FUN! You’re in LA! You’re running a race!! Enjoy every second!! Run strong. Have fun!! 🔹️ More on RunEatRepeat.com - I'm linking to several posts with tips and race recaps!! . . . #RunEatRepeat #lamarathon #werunla

We watched the gophers basketball game, got a few things at the store, picked out my favorite cookies at our local co-op, then I snuck in a run, and we went on a walk! I’m not certain, but I’m assuming his love language is quality time, because his cup is running over today! #motherrunner #zensah #teamzensah #boymom #postpartumrunning
