🦊 Hey guys! As I mentioned a while ago, @artezaofficial kindly offered me to try their watercolors, colored pencils and mixed media paper, and I am bringing you a two-part review of these supplies after trying them out for a couple weeks.
🍄 Today, I will talk about the watercolors (and paper). They sent me a 60-color watercolor tube box of the Premium variety to try, and I have to say I am very positively surprised with the product. The variety of colors is awesome, and you barely have to do any mixes because you can use colors straight out of the tube. This is what made me fall in love with them, they're great for color studies and quick sketches. If you are used to working with artist grade watercolors, you might notice these are a bit chalky when they dry, so they remind me more of gouache, but it's great to layer colored pencils on top of them. That is the technique I used for this drawing (along with the mixed media paper).
🍁 If you're an intermediate/advanced user of watercolors and you would like to experiment mixing different media, I encourage you to try their watercolors yourself and have fun with them. For students and beginners I would recommend starting with just basic and primary colors, because I think that many of the more "complex" hues (with evoking names, such as "eucalyptus" or "peach"... I love the small details!) contain a lot of white paint and you won't be properly learning the mechanics of watercolors, but this happens with special colors (like pastel hues) in most brands anyway. 🍂 I have been using these paints more often lately in my studies and sketches, because I don't have much time to paint and these save me the trouble of having to mix certain colors, and I can jump straight into the drawing.
To say something about the paper, I have been using it quite often too! It's true that it can't take a lot of water, because it's thinner than the papers I normally use, but for small sketches... I am enjoying it a lot. The paper isn't too textured, so you can do studies and small doodles and easily lay down some color, so I am happy with it. I will do a review on the pencils next time!! (Thank you for reading this far!) ✨ #arteza
