Spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally. 👉🏽 (the first picture may look ‘fine’ but I was unwell, illnesses were worsening, enduring it all and trying to put on a facade; and overwhelmed with inflammation and mucus. Just because the outside looks fine doesn’t mean all is well within) 👈🏽 Gaining more healthy muscle weight still because of my personal preference. A question I get often is, “I’m already skinny, will I lose weight?” Yes! Not an unhealthy amount but you will shed a bit of weight. Alkaline eating naturally sheds inflammation and fat.   • The Baking Soda Supplement According to the American College of Sports Medicine, sodium bicarbonate is among the leading ergogenic aids. Athletes and individuals participating in vigorous exercise are using baking soda to help delay muscle fatigue and improve performance. The timing of bicarb loading is also important when it comes to performance. The traditional view has been that the maximum effect on blood pH occurs between 2-3 hours after consumption, so taking bicarb 2-3 hours before a training session or competition will achieve the maximum benefit to performance. However new research published in March 2016 suggests there is a significant difference between individuals in the time it takes for bicarbonate to peak in the blood, ranging from 75 to 180 minutes after consumption. It is also suggested that other factors like the amount and timing of food may also be important. High-intensity exercise signals our body to release hydrogen ions. Hydrogen is a metabolic waste product causing an acidic environment and decreased athletic performance. Research indicates sodium bicarbonate buffers the acids by binding to them. This binding allows for enhanced energy output during challenging workouts. When acid levels are maintained at neutral levels, our muscles operate more efficiently. Energy metabolism is increased and studies indicate our muscles can sustain longer workouts. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, baking soda is an effective buffering agent to maintain healthy pH and improve athletic performance. Dosing Over 30 different studies have been published on sodium bicarbonate loading prior to exercise. The consensus obtained is that the effective dose is 0.3 to 0.4 grams per kilogram of body weight. For example, if you weigh 70kg your dosing range would be 21 to 28 grams.   • Citrus fruits are the most acidic type of fruit. You should avoid them if you have acid reflux. . It's not because the citrus will make your stomach more acidic (though it's also that if you have an ulcer). . You want to avoid consuming citrus because the pH is low (acidic) and as the citrus passes through your esophagus, it will activate any pepsin that has been deposited there. . Pepsin is what causes the burning sensation if you have GERD. Pepsin essentially digests your body's tissues, which is what causes increased mucus and associated nose, throat, and sinus symptoms if you have LPR. . So, while you're healing, avoid citrus. . Just avoiding the bad foods isn't enough to actually heal the core dysfunctions causing LPR and GERD in the first place. For that, get my book on the program I created to completely rid myself of acid reflux symptoms for good. . Love you.
