  • I heard the news that officer Roy Oliver was found guilty of murder for killing teenager Jordan Edwards in 2017. I felt..... nothing. For years we have been screaming #JusticeFor(fill in the blank) and disappointment set in when officer after officer was not even indicted. Now here I am at a crossroads because I feel this lump in my throat. HELL YES, these killer cops need to be thrown under a jail but more importantly WE SHOULDNT BE KILLED BECAUSE OF ENCOUNTERS WITH POLICE. Then, Jordan Edwards father, Odell Edwards, was called to the stand and this is my harsh reminder. A guilty verdict doesn’t bring Jordan back, it doesn’t ease the pain, it doesn’t make living easier. I’ve had the opportunity to meet the families of Mike Brown Jr, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Mansur Ball-Bey, Cary Ball Jr, VonDerrit Myers and Amadou Diallo, it’s all the same feeling suffocating them. You can feel the pure hurt, brokenness, terror, pain, anxiety, trauma and anger just by looking at them. This has to stop, they’ve broken us down so much that a guilty verdict is like gold to us when in actuality having to fight for basic justice is a big piece of oppression. We shouldn’t be killed, period. #jordanedwards royoliver #policeshooting #abolishthepolice

  • We lRepost @__xxdvpexx__ ...... Dyma Tera Loving, 26 and Adrianna Green, 22 who are both from Miami, Florida were walking down the street on March 5th around 10;30 a.m. when they say that their neighbor and family friend started calling Green a whore, so both young women responded back with name calling which resulted in the neighbor who’s an older white man in his 50’s pulling out a shotgun and threatening to shoot the women. In the video that was taken by Green it shows a police officer grabbing Loving by her wrist and neck and at least three other officers helping take down Loving as she’s pleading with the officers not to be touched. Green called the police on her neighbor who allegedly pulled out the shotgun on the two and they were hoping to get help from police but instead Green says she got a angry officer on the scene. When asked as to why she was recording at the time she stated that she always records her life since she has issues with her family who allowed the neighbor and family friend back into her home even after the threats were made and she wants to always cover herself with the truth. Loving was arrested for disturbing the peace without violence and for resisting arrest and was forced to stay in custody for 12 long hours before being allowed to bond out on a $1500 bond. Green says that a detective working the case said that the main officer was a trainer with the Miami Dade police force and that the other officers in the video had just gotten out of training. She says everything was fine until the main officer started being aggressive and then thats when the other officers followed suit in his actions. The call to the police was made because Green say’s that they feared for their lives from the neighbor and says in her past she’s witnessed first hand her best friend get shot in the face when she lived in Tennessee, so she didn’t want to take any chances this time around. • If you’re not familiar with the case of #CoreyJones look into it. He was murdered by an on duty unidentified police officer because his car broke down. Today an all white jury convicted the cop that murdered him. It was the first conviction for an on duty shooting in Florida in over thirty years! Nouman Raja, 41, now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years and could spend his life in prison for the death of Corey Jones, 31. This work is not easy. Victories are few and far in between due to deep seeds of racism and bias built into the American Justice system. Forcing the system to do the opposite of what it was designed to do is a daunting task. But we are making headway. Congrats bro. @attorneycrump. #achangeisgonnacome #itsonus #polocebrutality

  • They tried to cover up the racism in this commercial by hiring token black folks like Shaq and the two other boogie black guys in the clip. But that doesn’t change the fact that they just stereotyped an entire group of people that are ALREADY treated overly hostile by the general public. I’m actually not that surprised at Shaq for this because he’s said and done things in the past to suggest that he has contempt for the general black society anyway, but still you would think in light of all of the young black boys and men that are killed everyday for being “suspicious”, he would have thought twice before doing this commercial. I apologize for the lack of sound but the point is all these people are saying “Oohh! This guy is suspicious!” throughout the entire commercial. #ringapp #racistcommercial #racistringappcommercial #shaq #racist #racism #trayvonmartin #tamirrice #jordanedwards #mikebrown #ados #usados #blacksafetymatters #covertracism #subtleracism #ringcamera #tangibles2020

  • People are defending the Covington Catholic school boys because “they are children.” Tell me when we as a society have shown fragility towards children when they were black or brown? When we caged them on the border and ripped them away from their mothers or when we changed the laws to charge children as young as 14 as adults or when we poisoned them with lead causing irreparable brain damage or maybe when we wrongly convicted and imprisoned 5 innocent black and brown children in the Central Park Rape? Kalief Browder DEAD Jordan Davis DEAD Tamir Rice DEAD Cameron Tillman DEAD Antwon Rose Jr. DEAD Laquan McDonald DEAD Jordan Edwards DEAD Jakelin Caal DEAD Felipe Alonzo DEAD I could go on. Why is that we should hold a standard of fragility in the case of these disrespectful, privileged children when children of color are being imprisoned, beaten, poisoned, and murdered daily? If you came to the defense of the maga hat wearing kids because they are being threatened but you did not come to the defense of the children actually killed, then you need to reflect on what exactly it is you are defending, because it certainly isn’t “children.” . Instead of allowing her father to legally apply for asylum, our border patrol detained them. Jakelin Caal died of dehydration while in our care. She was seven years old. Artist: @broobs.psd At 16 years old, Kalief Browder was detained on charges that were later determined to be unfounded. For 3 years he was incarcerated on Rikers Island without a conviction. As a child in an adult facility, he sustained significant abuse and was locked in solitary confinement for the majority of this time. He died by suicide after his release. • There is a deep spiritual sickness at play in our country that allows us to see calling out and embarrassing white boys for inappropriate behavior as damaging, but doesn't allow us to give second thought to these young black boys being KILLED for playing and living life. That spiritual sickness is called racism. #blacklivesmatter #covington

  • On Tuesday, a federal judge approved a $500,000 settlement of withheld evidence pertaining to the case of Jason Stockley and the man that he killed as a law enforcement officer. In December of 2011, Stockley, who was a St. Louis police officer at the time, fatally shot Anthony Lamar Smith during a car pursuit. With the settlement, the federal judge on the case found claims that local officials and police withheld crucial evidence from Smith’s family. With the new addition of the $500,000 settlement, the family has received a total of $1.4 million in claims over Smith's death. After being charged with first degree murder, it was suggested that then Officer Stockley planted the gun on Smith after shooting him, which added more money to the settlement. After going on trial, Stockley was found not guilty, but was aqcuitted in 2017. The money is all said to be going to Smith’s daughter. .... #anthonylamarsmith #jasonstockley #mikebrown #saintlouis #activist #philandocastile #sandrabland #ericgarner #indiakager #jemelroberson #bothamshemjean #antwonrose #ramarleygraham #trayvonmartin #jordanedwards #thetotalplug

  • #Repost @dp_mind.and.soul with @download_repost ・・・ #Civilrights #attorney #LeeMerritt announced Friday that he’s free to assist victims of #policemisconduct after a judge dismissed charges accusing him of practicing state law in #Texas without a license. Merritt, 35, and his lawyer said they’re now considering legal action against the #TexasSupremeCourt committee that brought the “frivolous” claims. “Two years of taxpayer resources were wasted on this witch hunt and, more importantly, pulled me away from serving #families seeking justice in a system clearly designed to deny them that,” argued Merritt, who faced 16 counts of criminal contempt. As reported by The Dallas Morning News, the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee (UPLC) alleged Merritt had violated a prior agreement promising not to practice law in any state case in Texas. The attorney, who is known for taking high-profile cases, isn’t licensed to practice state law in Texas but is permitted to practice federal law. Committee member Leland de la Garza said the UPLC plans to appeal Thursday’s ruling by Judge Cynthia Wheless, adding that members are skeptical that Merritt’s participation in state law practice was unintentional. As punishment for breaching their agreement, the committee sought six months imprisonment for each violation, in addition to a $500 fine for each instance. The charges were the result of a complaint originally filed by #TarrantCountyDistrictAttorney Sharen Wilson accusing Merritt of unlawful practice, according to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth. Merritt, who’s represented the families of police shooting victims #BothamJean and #JordanEdwards, vehemently denied the claims and insisted he’s always worked alongside a licensed Texas attorney tasked with handling the criminal side of state cases. Moreover, Merritt said he only served as an advocate for families as he prepared to file federal civil rights complaints. The attorney accused the UPLC of trying to discredit him and has since called for a “public and full-throated” apology from the committee. “Ultimately, I believe that the prosecution was designed to stop the civil rights work that I was doing,” Merritt said. #foodforthought #rbg
